The Blue Tiffany & Co. Box

The simple blue boxes tied with white ribbons have become a global symbol of luxury and sophistication since Tiffany & Co. first introduced them in 1878. Luxury products, such as jewelry or high-end cosmetics, are typically packaged to create an impression of opulence, sophistication, and exclusivity. An iconic package, such as the little blue box from Tiffany & Co., promotes a brand as well as a lifestyle.

The founder, Charles Lewis Tiffany, chose the turquoise color to reflect the popularity of the turquoise gem, which was particularly popular among Victorian brides. Tiffany Blue Box is elegant and eco-friendly. The box is made with eco-sustainable materials.

Toblerone’s Triangular Design

If you think of Toblerone, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Probably, its shape. No other chocolate bar in this world is as distinctive as a Toblerone bar, with its triangular box. With its timeless shape, even without its packaging, you would be able to identify one.

Swiss chocolatier Theodore Tobler, who created Toberone’s original formula in 1906, decided to manufacture honey and nougat-strewn bars in a triangular mold. It is believed that Tobler and his production manager, Emil Baumann, drew inspiration from the Matterhorn, the Swiss mountain widely renowned for its nearly symmetrical, pyramidal peak.

Around 40% of Swiss chocolate exports are Toblerone bars, with 96% exported globally.

Heinz Ketchup Bottle

Heinz revolutionized ketchup packaging with its octagonal bottle. Marcel Verhaaf, a branding expert and author of a 2011 book, states that its curved neck was specifically designed to facilitate smooth ketchup flow. As opposed to bottles with wider mouths that exposed the condiment to air and led to a color change, the narrow mouth kept the condiment safe and fresh.

Heinz started to sell ketchup in glass bottles in 1876 with a keystone shape, and then, a decade later, they switched to the now iconic octagonal bottle. Heinz is extremely possessive of its bottle design and even sued a Texas condiment company for creating a ketchup bottle that resembles that of the Heinz ketchup bottles.
